About Pastor
Rev. Dr. G. Samuel Our First Pastor, is shepherding the congregation of Baptist Church Hyderabad over the past 50 years; by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are now a congregation of over 25,000 and with services in four different languages. Rev. Dr G. Samuel was born on 5th January 1945 in a small village called Udayagiri, Nellore district in India. He lost his father at the age of five, and his mother Mrs Gollapalle Saramma raised him as a Christian and encouraged him to become a full-time minister.
Rev. Dr G. Samuel pursued his Bachelor of Divinity from the Ramayapatnam Baptist Theological Seminary, Ramayapatnam during 1962-1966. Which was then overseen by Maurice Blanchard and Louis F. Knoll was also taught by the Old Testament Scholar, Gaddala Solomon and was awarded the degree in the ensuing convocation of the Senate of Serampore College (University) by the Registrar, Chetti Devasahayam, CBCNC.
Pastor Samuel was a Missionary Pastor in Nagaland from 1967 to 1970. After coming back from Nagaland, he was appointed as the first full-time Pastor for Baptist Church Hyderabad on 22nd June 1970. He was ordained in 1973. Rev. Dr G. Samuel has acted as President of the Andhra Pradesh chapter of the All-India Christian Council.
As an important Ecclesiastical figure among the Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches, Rev. Dr G. Samuel had been at the forefront of leadership together with S. Benjamin, N. Thomas, and K. Prabhudas and had visited the American Baptist Churches in the United States of America in the nineties. During the 9th World Telugu Christian Summit held in 2017 in Sydney, Australia, Rev. Dr Samuel also took part in it together with his fellow companions, Rev. Ravela Joseph, STBC and Rev. Suppogu Joseph, STBC in the presence of the Church Historian, B. C. Paul, AELC.
Mrs Eva Samuel and Rev. Dr G. Samuel are blessed with four Children, first child Dr Sarah Rose (USA), Mrs Mary Suchartha, Rev. David P Gollapalle and Mr. Solomon Sumanth. Mrs. & Rev. G. Samuel is blessed with 8 grandchildren and they continue to serve the Lord, ministering to the people of Twin States Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
