Belief

THE HOLY BIBLE

We believe that the Holy Bible in its entirety is the written Word of God verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit and therefore it is infallible authoritative and basis for all Christian faith, practice, correction and instruction in righteousness. We believe the Word of God is the truth without error. We believe that through the power of the Holy Spirit, God speaks to us in the scriptures today to accomplish His purpose of Salvation in Jesus Christ.

THE TRUE GOD

We believe in the one and the only one living, loving, holy, righteous, infinite, eternal and true God; the Creator and the Sovereign ruler of heaven and earth worthy of worship in all honour and glory, manifested in the unity of the God-head as God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit accomplishing His purposes distinctly but harmoniously in the great work of Salvation.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of god in His incarnation united to His divine nature a true human nature, yet without sin and continues to be both God and man in two distinct natures but one person forever. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived in perfect obedience to the Father’s will, suffered and died on the cross vicariously for the atonement of our sin and victoriously risen from the dead bodily, on the third day for our justification. He ascended into heaven and enthroned at the right hand of the father, interceding for His people.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Lord Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with God the Father, God the Son and of the same nature. He convicts of sin, judgement and righteousness. He confirms the truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony. He is the agent of new birth and new creation. He enables believers to confess Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior. He seals, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies, comforts and strengthens the believers. He equips the believers with spiritual gifts and fruit of the Spirit for the edification of the Church.

THE SECOND COMING

We believe that at a day and hour known only to God, our Lord Jesus Christ shall come again personally, bodily, visibly and gloriously to consummate His kingdom of peace and righteousness. We believe that when Christ appears in the clouds in the air, the dead in Christ shall rise first, and the living saints will be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet and shall be caught up together with them in clouds to meet the Lord in the air to appear before the judgement seat of Christ to receive the awards and after the great tribulation periods of seven years, that this same Jesus which is taken up to heaven shall return in the like manner to set his feet on the earth and he shall reign a thousand years in righteousness until He has put all enemies under His feet.

THE CREATION AND FALL OF THE MAN

We believe in the Biblical account of creation as recorded in Genesis that God created man in His own image and after His own likeness and created them as male and female. We further that our first parents, Adam and Eve, were disobedient to God by voluntary transgression, sinned and inconsequence of which all mankind are now sinners not by constraint but by choice, there by bringing sin, guilt, misery, death and spiritual separation of man from God.

SALVATION

We believe that man is a sinner and cannot save by himself. The salvation of sinner is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ who redeemed us with His precious blood. God in His mercy and grace redeems all who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation as it is written “that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved.”

JUSTIFICATION

We believe that the great gospel blessing is the justification which Christ secured to those who believed in Him; that justification included the pardon of sin, and the promise of eternal life, on principles of righteousness. It is bestowed, not in consideration of any work of righteousness which we have done, but solely through faith in the redeemer’s blood by virtue of faith, His perfect righteousness is imputed to us; that it brings us every other blessing needful for time and eternity.

SANCTIFICATION

We believe that the sanctification is the process by which, according to the will of God, we are made part takers of His holiness; that it is a progressive work, which is begun in regeneration; and it is carried on in the hearts of believers by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, the Sealer and comforter through the means of the Word of God, self examination, self denial, watchfulness and prayer.

GLORIFICATION

We believe that the sinner is saved from the punishment of the sin through faith in Jesus and is being saved from the power of sin by his trust in the saving power of Jesus and ultimately will be saved from the presence of sin when he is finally received into glory to live eternally with God.

THE CHURCH

We believe that the church is a fellowship of baptised believers bound together by the covenant of faith in Christ, observing the ordinances of Christ, exercising the gifts of the Holy Spirit, claiming the promises and privileges invested in His word; that its only the Scriptural officers such as Pastors, Elders and Deacons whose qualifications, claims and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures.

THE CHURCH

We believe that the baptism is a pre-requisite to the privileges of membership in a local church and to the Lord’s Supper, in which the members of the church celebrate with thanksgiving; the new life as the people of new covenant by the sacred use of bread and wine as the symbols of body and blood of Jesus to commemorate together the sacrificial love of Christ preceding always by solemn self examination. Thus, pledging to proclaim the crucified Christ till he comes.

THE BAPTISM

We believe in the believer’s baptism on public confession of faith in Jesus Christ followed by immersion in water in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit to symbolize our solemn faith in the crucified, buried and risen Saviour with its effects in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life.

THE LORD’S SUPPER

We believe that the baptism is a pre-requisite to the privileges of membership in a local church and to the Lord’s Supper, in which the members of the church celebrate with thanksgiving; the new life as the people of new covenant by the sacred use of bread and wine as the symbols of body and blood of Jesus to commemorate together the sacrificial love of Christ preceding always by solemn self examination. THE GREATEST COMMISSION

We believe the true mission of the church is found in the great commission; first to preach the gospel; second to make disciples; third, to baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; and fourth, to teach and instruct as he commanded. We believe that the great commission to proclaim the gospel to the whole world is clear and unmistakable and. this commission is given to the churches as it is written in Matthew 28:19,20 “go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”

THE GRACE OF GIVING

We believe that God’s method of financing His earthly work of spreading the Gospel to all nations, the care of the churches and the support of the ministry is by the tithes and the offerings of His people. That it is to be given to the Lord through His Church to be distributed as directed by the leadership of the Spirit as the need arises. The tithes to be brought is on the lord’s day, the first day of the week; that everyone is accountable to the Lord for one-tenth of their income and that tithing was instituted long before the Law was ever given and was practised by the early church.
